Speaking during the event that was organised by university students largely drawn from Mombasa, the legislator called for concerted efforts from all Kenyans in ensuring peace and unity is maintained ahead of next year's general election.

"This country is getting into a very critical political time and it is up to every Kenyan to ensure that the country stays peaceful and united," he said.

"As residents of Mombasa we join the rest of the world in spreading love and peace especially during these trying moments of our country. Let us be ambassadors of peace wherever we are," he added.
