Mvita MP Abdulwasmad Nassir has condemned the government for arresting former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna. The ODM MP said Miguna’s arrest is a clear indication that the Jubilee government is using the police to curtail the freedom of opposition politicians in order to continue its tyranny rule.Speaking to journalists at the Mombasa county offices on Friday, Nassir claimed that the Jubilee government has turned into a dictatorship, adding that Kenyans must stand for the rule of law.He said the government has no right to arrest innocent leaders and frustrate their freedom.“It is a shame that Jubilee is slowly turning into a dictatorship and as such we will not give them space to undermine the rule of law,” he said.Nassir warned the police against being used by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to undermine the rule of law.He termed Matiang’i as a ‘dictator’ who is running the police force the way he wants.“It is unfortunate that someone like Matiang’i is using their powers to undermine the rule of law, the constitution and the democratic space that the country took years to realise,” he said. The ODM lawmaker said NASA will not be cowed by Jubilee tactics, adding that their quest for electoral reforms cannot be stopped. He asked NASA supporters to stand firm and reject Jubilee's alleged dictatorship rule. The government has launched a crackdown on NASA politicians who planned and participated in Raila Odinga’s oath ceremony on Tuesday.Flying squad police on Friday stormed Miguna Miguna’s Runda home and arrested him.The lawyer's arrest sparked protests in Kibera with locals and NASA supporters demanding for his immediate release. On Wednesday, the government arrested Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang and charged him with administering an illegal oath. The MP was released on Thursday on a Sh50, 000 cash bail.
