Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir has laughed off claims that he is lobbying to succeed Governor Hassan Joho in 2022.Speaking in Mvita on Monday, the ODM MP said that he will not be dragged into succession politics for now.The MP said that he is focused on serving his electorates, adding that succession politics should wait until 2022.He said that his focus on delivering services to the people will not be distracted by people who are speculating on 2022 politics.“I am not lobbying to succeed Joho in 2022 as at now but I will discuss the issue when the right time comes,” he said. The MP urged Mvita residents to ignore people who are discussing 2022 politics and instead support his agenda. He said there is a lot that needs to be done for Mvita residents, noting that his priority is to fight poverty, unemployment insecurity and drug abuse.Abdulswamad is among politicians whom political analysts have argued are poised to replace Governor Joho who is serving his second and final term. The Mvita MP is considered as Joho’s loyalist and confidant.Others said to be eying Joho’s seat in 2022 are Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and Kisauni’s Ali Mbogo.Governor Joho is serving his last term and has declared interest in the presidential seat in 2022.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
