Mvita Constituency member of parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has called on Mombasa residents to embrace peace to sustain the region's stability.

Speaking on Sunday at Makupa Catholic Church where he led a fundraising, the legislator said peace in the region is crucial and its sustenance is the responsibility of all residents.

"As we head into the 2017 general elections, it is extremely important that we embrace peace and even diversity of our different cultures and religions," he said.

"Peace and unity will foster economic development and even help us combat insecurity in Mombasa," he added.
