Deputy President has assured Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya that he will stand with him amid a law suit filed by Mombasa governor Hassan Joho on the grounds of defamation.

According to Ruto, the lawsuit by Joho was meant to punish him for defecting from the Orange Democratic movement to Jubilee Party.

"Mvurya has been sued because he defended the rights of people of kwale and its resources including minerals. As a government we are behind him and let him stand firm...will make sure that the right of the Kwale people are protected," said Ruto during a tour of Kwale County.

The governor has been under attack from the ODM brigade after announcing a surprise move to Jubilee party last year.
