Leaders from Kwale County have commended the Jubilee government for its development record in the county and across the country.
Led by Governor Salim Mvurya, the legislators who included Zainab Chidzuga (Kwale Women Rep), Khatib Mwashetani (Lunga Lunga) and Gonzi Rai (Kinango) dismissed the Opposition as a disorganised group that neither had focus nor the interests of the people of Kwale at heart.
Speaking at Sawa Sawa grounds in Msambweni, when President Uhuru Kenyatta issued the Makonde Community with IDs, Mvurya said he ditched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) due to its lack of focus on development.
“We lost direction and walked with the Opposition in the last general election but it has become clear that apart from empty politics and abusive language, they have no focus on development. That is why we are now in Jubilee,” said Mvurya.
The leaders led Kwale residents in declaring their support for the President, his deputy and the Jubilee Party.
They said the large turn out of the residents to receive the President signified that Kwale county is no longer an ODM zone.
Present were Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana, Senators Mike Sonko, Emma Mbura, Beatrice Elachi and Beth Mugo.
Others were Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Mohammed Achani, MPs Masoud Mwahima (Likoni), Peter Shehe (Ganze), Nairobi Women Rep Rachel Shebesh and Coast Regional Commissioner Nelson Marwa.
