Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has told off his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho over his persistent show of disrespect to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking on Saturday in Kombani when he issued bursaries to top students in the county, Mvurya warned that the Presidency as an institution must be respected by all Kenyans irrespective of their social standing.

“If you want to see a country respected, you must respect the President. You cannot keep on abusing President Kenyatta, he deserves respect,” said Mvurya, as quoted by the Nation.

On Thursday, Joho accused President Kenyatta of taking credit for projects initiated by past regimes and funded by the World Bank and other international organiations.

Speaking during the commissioning of a footbridge in Buxton, Joho asked the President to show Mombasa residents projects that had been initiated in the county by the Jubilee government.
