Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has endorsed his deputy Fatuma Achani for the seat in the 2022 general election.
Mvurya says that Achani is the suitable person to succeed him when his term comes to an end in 2022.
Speaking to residents in Matuga Town on Sunday, Mvurya said that Achani is a performer and will continue with the county development projects once he retires.
He said that the deputy governor is visionary and has the interests of Kwale people at heart.
“I have worked with Fatuma and I know she is a performer who will continue with the development projects once my term comes to an end in 2022,” he said.
The Jubilee governor asked locals not to be misled when 2022 comes.
Mvurya who ditched ODM in 2015 and joined Jubilee Party, said that Kwale and the larger Coast region has benefited from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
He asked Coast locals to remain untied and shun politicians whose interest if to cause divisions.
Succession politics is already playing out across the country as leaders align themselves for 2022.
Achani is among the favorites for the Kwale governor seat in 2022.
Others likely to succeed Mvurya are former veteran Cabinet Minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere and Dr Issa Chipera.
Mwakwere and Chipera unsuccessfully contested or the kwale governor seat in last year’s general election.
