Parents of form one students from Kinango sub-county, who secured slots in various national schools, have been handed a reprieve after the incumbent governor Salim Mvurya on Saturday issued them with a cheque valued at Sh43.5 million for fees. Speaking during a ceremony to issue the cheque at Kinango secondary school, Salim said that he is committed to improving the education standards in the county during his second term in office following his re-election. He also said that the county government will ensure that 2,797 students receive Sh.127 million from the government. He also asked parents to guide their children as they pursue their studies."I know some of you think this is just a grant from the county government but you need to advise your children to work hard as that will be only to creating for them a bright future," he said, as quoted by The Star.
He also hailed, Kagumo high school’s Bakari Mwacheo for scoring an A plain during this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations following the release of the results by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
Mwacheo is among the beneficiaries of the scholarship programme.
