Kwale gubernatorial aspirant Issah Chipera has claimed Governor Salim Mvurya decamped from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to Jubilee to satisfy his selfish interests.
The aspirant said Mvurya’s decision to join UhuRuto’s side is a clear indicator that he does not have the interests of his people at heart.
Chipera said the county needs a by-election to vote for someone who supports ODM.
He also rubbished claims that Mvurya has brought development to the region, terming those supporting him as lost sheep.
"He left ODM to satisfy his own stomach and joined NYS, Eurobond and Afya house thieves," said Chipera, as quoted by The Star.
His sentiments were supported by a section of leaders from the county including the County assembly majority leader Nassoro Mgutta who said the region is still an opposition stronghold.
He said Mvurya’s defection has not had any impact on the politics of the region.
Speaking during a fund-raiser in Kombani on Saturday, Mgutta said Mvurya is a lone range who has nothing to offer.
The governor ditched the opposition saying there were plans to deny him a chance to defend his seat in the next general election.
