Kwale County boss Salim Mvurya was re-elected because of his exemplary track record, Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo has said.
Speaking on Friday at Safari Hall in Bamburi during a meeting in which he issued bursaries worth Sh500, 000 to 100 needy top performers, Mbogo, who is allied to NASA said that the Kwale incumbent governor did not tell lies to be re-elected into office.
He noted that the county boss has greatly transformed the education sector in his backyard, adding that he deserved another term in power.
“Mvurya won re-election through Jubilee yet Coast is a strong NASA zone. It is because of his efforts in education that people re-elected him,” said Mbogo, as quoted by The Star.
Mbogo also took a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta, claiming he lied to Kenyans about free secondary education when he was seeking re-election. He said that parents across the nation have been slapped with fee structures despite having been promised free education.
Mbogo said that the government should have waived tuition fee to give the Kenyan children a chance to pursue education for the betterment of their future.
He claimed that parents across the county are expected to pay as much as Sh17, 000 in day secondary schools annually and Sh. 53, 000 in national schools annually.
The MP further argued that Uhuru wouldn’t have pledged what he knew he was not able to deliver, adding that Kenyans voted for him based on lies.
