Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has downplayed rumours that he has plans to re-unite with Cord leader Raila Odinga after a tweet suggesting the move surfaced online.

The governor ditched ODM for Jubilee last September, after raising concerns of the party's top officials plotting to rig him out of the elections.

"Jubilee promised us goodies but we have been shortchanged. It is never too late to go back home for the interest of my people, accept my apologies," read the tweet that has been doing rounds on social media.

Mvurya has, however, refuted claims that he is considering returning to ODM as the August elections draw closer.

“I will defend the governor seat on a Jubilee ticket on August 8. The information being spread using my photo is not true," said Mvurya in a facebook post.

The governor said the tweet was being circulated by people who want to bring him down politically.

The governor's personal assistant, Rodgers Chimega, said the twitter account was fake.

“The message being peddled through this photo is therefore false and is meant to portray the Governor in bad light," said Chimega.
