Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani has expressed confidence that Governor Salim Mvurya will be Kenya's Deputy President in 2022. Speaking at the culture centre in Kwale during the county’s business forum, Achani said Mvurya’s defection from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is a blessing to the people of Kwale, adding that he will be the second in command in 2022 when Deputy William Ruto becomes president. The outspoken leader urged residents not to curse ODM for 'chasing away' Mvurya saying he is going to be their saviour. “They chased him from ODM but it was for the benefit of Kwale people. I have faith that after 2022 Mvurya will be President or Deputy President,” said Achani, as quoted by the Star. Achani also pointed out that the current leadership has initiated a number of projects in the region, adding that they deserve another term in office to complete what they started four years ago. “We have the construction of the Shimoni fishing port, among other major projects in Kwale, which are coming after Mvurya joined JP,” she added. The defection of Mvurya to Jubilee has caused a political storm in the region. Former Kenya Ambassador to Tanzania Chirau Ali Mwakere is among the aspirants who are out to dethrone Mvurya.
