After successfully defending his seat, Salim Mvurya was sworn in on Monday in a ceremony held at Kwale Baraza Park.
The Jubilee Governor who was sworn in alongside his deputy Fatuma Achani thanked the locals for re-electing him, adding that the move is a testament to his good development record.Mvurya thanked residents for maintaining peace throughout the grueling campaign period, arguing that it was a confirmation of the democratic maturity in the coastal county.Mvurya who highlighted his development agenda over the next five years said his government will prioritise the issue of education.He said they will double the number of bursary and scholarship beneficiaries besides constructing three technical training institutes and a full-fledged university in the county.He further said that his administration will invest heavily in health sector by increasing the number of nurses and building more health facilities which will be fully equip.On water supply, Mvurya said they will focus on the construction of Mwache dam and also expand the existing pipelines in the county.The soft-spoken Governor further affirmed his government's commitment to improving the state of the infrastructure in the county."To improve infrastructure development, we have started the upgrading of Kinango-Samburu-Kinango and Lunga Lunga-Vanga to bitumen standards,” he said.
