Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal’s running mate Ananiah Mwaboza has dismissed Governor Hassan Joho's engagement in national politics accusing him of failing to deliver on his 2013 promises.

Mwaboza said Joho was instead hiding behind the popularity of his party leader and ODM presidential candidate Raila Odinga while faulting other leaders, yet Mombasa County is in a mess.

“Joho’s going for national politics is like a giant standing on mosquito limbs,” Mwaboza told The Star on the phone on Monday.

He particularly took issue with Joho's remarks on Saturday in Bomet where he likened the Jubilee Party to a bus with a drunk driver and whose tout is a thief.

“Joho has failed to deliver on his 2013 manifesto and is now hiding behind the popularity of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga. You can fool some people some of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Let him go and rehearse his lyrics,” said Mwaboza.

He said Joho should first account for the millions send to the county government by the national government for the past four years before criticising other leaders over alleged corruption.

“Charity begins at home. Let him clean his own house first. Instead, we have mountains of garbage in Mombasa. What has he done with the billions of shillings Mombasa residents pay in taxes to the county government?” Mwaboza added.

He accused the ODM deputy party leader of failing to end the drug menace in Mombasa County.
