Former Kisauni Member of Parliament Ananiah Mwaboza has claimed that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has asked him to shelf his gubernatorial ambition.
Mwaboza claimed that Joho and other gubernatorial aspirants in Mombasa including Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and businessman Suleiman Shahbal approached him with the proposal, after sensing defeat in next year’s general election.
Mwaboza urged those who want to vie on a Jubilee ticket to support his bid, arguing that he has what it takes to unseat Governor Joho in 2017.
“I am the front runner and those aspiring to vie on a Jubilee ticket should leave the flag for me,” said Mwaboza.
“Even those in the opposition have seen me as the biggest threat. Governor Joho, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and Mr Shahbal have all approached and pleaded with me that I should support them because if I don’t, they will lose miserably,” he added.
According to the Nation, Mwaboza said he is the only who can beat Joho in the elections, because he enjoys the support of the Mijikenda community and “the goodwill of the country’s leadership”.
