[Photo/ the-star.co.ke]Former Mombasa County Trade Executive Hamisi Mwaguya has clinched the ODM ticket to contest for the county's Senate seat in the August 8 elections having trounced his four rivals.Mwaguya who bagged the precious ticket garnered 7,460 votes against his closet rival Mohamed Faki who polled 5,219 with Hisham Mwidau coming a distant third with 2,702.Further fourth was Pharees Rubea who managed only 680 votes. However, Faki has dismissed the results terming them a sham, arguing they were allegedly altered in favour of his rival, Mwaguya. He called for a nullification of the results, claiming he won the nominations which were conducted on Sunday by over 2,000 votes.“Should the party fail to nullify the results, I will rethink my future in ODM,” said Faki.Should the party's election board uphold the outcome of the results, then Mwaguya will face off with the winner of the Jubilee Party nominations which are scheduled for Tuesday where Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana is seen as the favourite to clinch the ticket.
