Former Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima has announced his next move after the High Court in Mombasa upheld Mishi Mboko’s win in the August 8 election.

Speaking to journalists at the Mombasa Law Courts on Friday, the former ODM MP said he would move to the Court of appeal, as he was not satisfied with the ruling.Mwahima argued that his legal team filed a strong case and produced concrete evidence to support their petition.“We are definitely going to appeal this ruling because this is an injustice to us,” he said.The former lawmaker, who ditched Raila Odinga’s ODM Party to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party, said that Likoni residents have been denied justice.Mwahima accused the court of allegedly disregarding some of the evidence he had failed against Mishi Mboko’s election win.Mombasa High Court Judge Erick Ogola validated Mboko’s election on Friday, ruling that the petitioner failed to prove his case.Judge Ogola ruled that though there were notable irregularities in the election process, the same could not effect a nullification.The Judge further observed that during scrutiny and recount of votes in 10 polling centers, the results revealed Mboko’s votes had decreased by seven while Mwahima’s had increased by a vote.Mwahima filed the petition alleging massive illegalities in the election.While welcoming the ruling, Mboko promised to work tirelessly for her constituents.The vocal MP pledged to work with the county and the national government for the benefit of Likoni people.
