Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima has said he will retire from politics after he serves his constituents for the next five years.
Mwahima said he is confident of beating his opponents Mombasa Women Rep Mishi Mboko and independent candidate Khamis Domoko Wanje.
Speaking in Likoni during his political campaigns, Mwahima said he ditched ODM for President Uhuru’s Jubilee party after Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho sidelined him in party matters and even in the running of the county.
He also accused Joho of sidelining the constituency in terms of development and concentrating more on Kisauni, Jomvu and Mvita.
The MP said though he was planning to retire from politics this year, he decided to defend his seat so that he can complete his development projects.
“I want to show my people that we can develop our own constituency without Joho’s government. We have been doing that for the last five years and we will do even more after the August 8 polls,” he said.
Mwahima urged his constituents to reject the current political party wave sweeping the country and instead vote for leaders based on their development record.
He said he was dedicated to uplifting the living standard of Likoni residents and asked them to support him in the forthcoming general election.
The 74-year-old politician has led the constituency for three terms.
