Kenya's Ambassador to Tanzania Chirau Ali Mwakwere held a meeting with elders at his home in Ziwani, as he seeks to become the next governor of Kwale County.
Journalists, were however, barred from attending the meeting.
“We don’t need any journalists here,” the elders told reporters.
Mwakere, who will be contesting for the seat on an ODM ticket, will lock horns with the incumbent Salim Mvurya in the upcoming polls.
The outspoken leader has vowed to change the mistakes the current leadership made upon election in 2017.
He will be banking on the support of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho to clinch the seat.
