Former High Commissioner to Tanzania Chirau Ali Mwakwere has rubbished claims that he has ditched Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).This comes after a section of ODM members at the Coast lashed out at Mwakere after he announced joining Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party. The former minister insisted that he has never been a member of ODM or Jubilee.“Those saying I ditched Jubilee or ODM for Wiper let them mention my membership number. I have never been to Jubilee... I went to Tanzania when I was in URP and came back when the party no longer existed. When I arrived I never said I was joining ODM but NASA,” said Mwakwere, as quoted by the Standard. There were speculations that Mwakere had joined ODM after he was photographed with party leader Raila Odinga and his deputy Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.Mwakere has also rubbished claims of settling on Wiper over fears of losing the ODM Party nominations. What some people are saying is neither here nor there. Ask any one to do calculations and you will probably see why I picked Wiper,” he added, as quoted by the daily.Mwakere is seeking to unseat Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya in the August 8, polls.
