Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka has called for unity among members of the Kamba and Kikuyu communities.
Musyoka wants the two communities to continue living peacefully despite controversial issues emerging amongst them.
Addressing the public in Mwala town on Thursday, Musyoka alleged a plot by some politicians to create war between the two communities.
Musyoka said the communities have been living and doing business together peacefully for decades.
“We have been living together as communities and we must not allow some few individuals with selfish agenda to interfere with the peace and love we have been enjoying over the years,” Musyoka said.
While condemning the Kikuyu ‘Ikamba' song allegedly mocking the Kamba community, the Maendeleo Chap Chap MP urged leaders to sit down and iron out their differences.
He said dialogue will help address any issues and suspicions among the two communities.
Musyoka, however, cautioned against activities and actions that could trigger enmity and violence.
He said the country could easily plunge into war if citizens do not tolerate each other.
The controversial Kikuyu ‘Ikamba’ song continues to draw sharp criticism with Kamba politicians demanding for the arrest and prosecution of the two artists Isaiah and Waharaka who are said to be the authors of the song.
On Monday, Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior wrote to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the Office of the Director of Public prosecutions (ODPP) demanding for action.
The NCIC boss Francis Ole Kaparo on Wednesday said that investigators are reviewing the controversial song that the Kenya Film Classification Board has already banned.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party has threatened to seek legal action should the government fail to arrest the two artists.
On Thursday, a section of Makueni Members of County Assembly (MCAs) issued a 48 hour ultimatum to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matinag’i to arrest the two artists behind the mockery song failure to which they will lead peaceful demonstrations.
