Barely a day after the launch of “Uliza Serikali” accountability programme by Machakos Govenor Dr Alfred Mutua, Mwala people have rejected it terming it purely political.

Flagged by other leaders in support of his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party (MCC), Mutua tour to Masii in Mwala Constituency yesterday is alleged to have turned the programme into a Chap Chap affair to attack the area MCAs and others who have been on the receiving end to oversee his agenda.

Expressing his concern, Mwala Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) coordinator Nzuki Kyalaani asked IEBC and the relevant authorities to investigate this programme and the governor as he is alleged to use Public funds to promote MCC party.

“It is clear the Governor is using our money during these tours hiding behind the “Uliza Serikali” Public Accountability programme to promote his party. If not so, let him desist from mentioning his party as he tours the county and then we will believe him,” he said.

Several residents from Masii have expressed their displeasure in the way the governor has been attacking those opposed to his party asking him to allow the people to make their own choices as the electorate.Mutua on his side has asked all legislators to support him in the remaining time to offer quality services to the people of Machakos. The “Uliza Serikali” public accountability programme has been launched to help the local ‘Mwananchi’ get involved in the development projects the county government is doing and to know how finances have been utilized.
