A Nyamira County gubernatorial aspirant has denied information linking him to decamping from Ford People to Jubilee Alliance Party.
Mr Mwancha Okioma, a onetime Kitutu Masaba MP had been linked to JAP by a section of residents on social media platforms.
But the Ford People chairman has vehemently denied the allegations and insisted that he is busy revamping the party that once fielded Mr Simeon Nyachae as its presidential candidate in 2002.
“I want to put it clear that I am a member of Ford People and I will contest the gubernatorial seat in my party. I haven’t decamped to any other party as many people are purporting,” he said.
“My intention is to strengthen the Ford People party and nothing more. Our party has a national outlook and as new management, we are in the process of fixing some of our weaknesses and not moving to other parties,” he added.
The acting chairman, who toppled former chair Mr Henry Obwocha said the party will field candidates countrywide in all seats and ruled out merger proposals with Jubilee Alliance.
“As Ford people, we are keen to field candidates in many seats across the country to try and get majority. We are not in that business of joining other parties,” he said.
Residents had intimidated that Okioma had planned to join the race to win JAP ticket for gubernatorial seat in 2017.
