Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi has defended the National Assembly's move to slash the Senates' and Judiciary’s budget.
Speaking at a public gathering in Katangi, Yatta on Monday, Mwangangi claimed the senators are putting their interests first and forgetting the electorates who voted for them.
“What we did was simple. We found that the senators had money that they did not need, so we gave it to the counties. We did the same with the Judiciary. We are strengthening devolution and we have no apologies to make,” said Mwangangi.
Mwangangi asked the opposition to stop lecturing the government on insecurity saying that most of the problems the country is encountering now started during the grand coalition government which they were part of.
“Insecurity in this country is as a result of the grand coalition government which failed us. Raila, Kalonzo and Wetang'ula were in senior government positions. The Jubilee regime is just cleaning their mess, he said.
Mwala MP Victor Musyoka was also present, differed with Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) over their opposition to various projects by the government.
