Speaking in his office in Matuu town Yatta Sub-county during a press address, Mwangangi made it clear that it was unfair and unprofessional for the education ministry to take such a move, as it was a long-term initiative of disrupting the coming generation.

“The 2015 change of form one selection has demoralized students who worked so hard to get good marks, some over 400 marks and far from their expectations they are called to join schools that they have never dreamt of. Day schools that are not in National level category. It is a discouragement to the future candidates,” said Mwangangi.

“The parents have toiled for 8 years, some who are not well-up though they value education and later they get a disappointment,” he added.

The Yatta MP also expressed his lack of confidence and disapproval to the Cabinet Secretary of Education Dr. Jacob Kaimenyi, saying that in recent incidences, he has changed the way the education sector runs and it has negative results.

Mwangangi however stated that no student is supposed to be left behind or go to the low level schools in-terms of infrastructure but the country needs to recognize the efforts of the students who do well in the exams so as to motivate others.
