Just a day after shocking KPL side Bandari FC in a pre-season friendly match at Wundanyi Stadium, Mwatate United have been invited to play a friendly match against former KPL champions Gor Mahia.

The club's chairman James Okoyo Mandela said his fast-rising side has received an invitation letter from Gor Mahia, adding that it is an offer that they cannot turn down. "Our good performance has earned our players reputation. Gor is a big club in Kenya and we are happy for the invitation," Mandela said.On the team's performance against Bandari, Mandela hailed the players."It is a fantastic experience for our players to showcase their skills and already our striker Thomas Nyakole has been identified by Bandari FC," he added.Gor Mahia who lost the KPL title to Tusker FC in the 2016 season will use the friendly match to gauge their level of preparedness for the 2017 KPL season as they aim to reclaim their lost glory.

​However, the match schedule is yet to be disclosed.
