Nominated Member of Parliament Isaac Mwaura has revealed that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga encouraged him to ditch ODM if he wants to succeed politically in a Jubilee stronghold.
Mwaura, who has announced that he will be contesting for Ruiru parliamentary seat, said that before decamping to Jubilee he met Raila at his offices and informed him of his intention to vie in Ruiru Constituency.
“Before joining Jubilee on Saturday, I went to Raila Odinga’s place and told him that the people of Ruiru want me to represent them in Parliament through Uhuru Kenyatta's party. I informed him that Ruiru constituents vowed they are inclined toward Jubilee; and that I should not question their affiliation," said Mwaura.
He said Raila encouraged him to join Jubilee if he indeed wants to win the seat and gave him his blessings.
“Raila told me it is okay and that I have his blessings. The President himself had asked me to join him and work with him. That is how I ended up at Kasarani for the Jubilee Party launch," added Mwaura.
Mwaura insisted that he is still grateful to Raila who remains his political mentor and that shifting camps did not create any enemity with the former Prime Minister.
