Ruiru Parliamentary seat aspirant Isaac Mwaura has asked Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) to vote for leaders who will champion their rights.Mwaura, a nominated MP claims that the rights of PLWD are still being neglected by the national and county governments.Speaking in Ruiru town on Wednesday, Mwaura claimed that discrimination against PLWD is still rife especially when it comes to employment and appointment to public office.The nominated MP said that disabled persons will have their rights championed and protected if they elect the right leaders in the August 8 general election.Mwaura who ditched Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and joined President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party last year pledged to push for the interests of youths, women and PLWD if elected as next Ruiru MP in August.He also pledged to create employment opportunities for youth and initiate empowerment programs for women.Mwaura said that unemployment is the major problem facing young people in Ruiru.The ODM rebel exuded confidence in unseating incumbent Esther Gathogo who vowed to fight for her seat.Meanwhile, the MP has urged politicians across the political divide to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the polls.He cautioned politicians against making inflammatory remarks that can easily cause violence.
