This comes a few days after a public outcry that a section of residents were not using the dumping site that was set up a few months ago.

On Tuesday, health officials, led by Dr Agnes Ondieki, toured the estate and sensitised residents about sanity and warned them against continued dumping litter in restricted areas.

She regretted that most residents were not taking public health seriously despite numerous attempts to carry out sensitisation exercises in the area.

“I have no doubt that we have a dumping site as in the case of many suburbs in town. It is an act of irresponsibility and impunity for one to fail to use such sites to dump litter. We will soon start taking action,” she said.

“This is not the first time we are coming to this place. You should take responsibility and take public health seriously as it should be. But it is our mandate to come here again and again,” she added.

She asked rental house owners to embark in the process of sensitising tenants to take public health as a priority in a bid to prevent any exposure to airborne diseases.

“I cannot fight the war alone as the public health department. House owners have a responsibility to also sensitise their tenants on matters pertaining health,” Mrs Ondieki said.
