Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has called upon football lovers in the country to exercise a bit of patience with Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi as he tries to find a winning formula.
Okumbi has come under intense pressure lately after Stars fell to minnows Iraq and Thailand in international friendlies recently with many now calling for his dismissal.
However, in a swift rejoinder, Mwendwa urged for patience saying the former Mathare United tactician should be granted more time to steer Stars to greater heights.
"We might be doing poorly but we don't support this aggression from some quarters doing rounds on our coach. We take in the advice on effecting changes on the technical bench but time isn't ripe to do a reshuffle. We will stick with Okumbi and offer him all the necessary support to ensure that he succeeds", he said on Thursday during a press conference at the federation's headquarters in Nairobi.
Okumbi's next assignment will be to steer a demoralized Stars to regional success when they host the Cecafa bonanza in late November.
