Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has rubbished rumours trending on social media that he solicited for a bribe from Kisumu governor Anyang Nyongo in order to have Cecafa matches hosted in the county.
Speaking to KTN's Zilizala Viwanjani show on Monday, Mwendwa dismissed as shocking such claims maintaining that the federation upholds a high degree of intergrity.
"These days anyone can post anything online. However, we are known for intergrity and being straightforward with monetary issues. It is misleading for kne to allege that solicited for money from the Kisumu county government and were denied. The truth is,I personally reached out to the Kisumu governor and told him through a letter that there are a few things that should be in place before we take the matches to Kisumu and they assured us that they'll address such.Im now appaled that some people have given it a whole new angle of asking for bribes", he said.
FKF has since moved the group A matches to which Kenya is placed from the lakeside city to Machakos on security grounds despite protests from the Kisumu fans.
