According to Mwendwa, National team players based locally will not have match fitness heading to the next international break.

“Sometimes you pay a price because this is a 14 year problem that we are trying to solve but I believe we will pay and ensure there a clean down that the problem is solved for once and for all,” he said.

“Remember that we have a national team playing in March and if the players are not playing there is a problem. We need sharpness but it will not be there because they are not playing. The players would have played five match by then, he added.

Kenya national team last played a match in November 2017 where they beat Liberia by a solitary goal.
