Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has expressed confidence in Harambee Stars stating that they must win the Cecafa Senior Challenge title.Speaking to Ministry of Sports officials during the presentation of the new coach on Tuesday at the ministry's headquarters, Mwendwa said former coach Stanley Okumbi will be in charge of assembling the Cecafa squad. He added that the federation had targeted to win this year's Cecafa edition which will be hosted by Kenya next month even before the new Belgian coach, Paul Put came on board.“Even before Put came on board, our target was to win this year’s edition. We therefore expect his presence to be a boost towards our goal.. However, he(Put) has set his sight on the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) and Qatar 2022 (World Cup) as you heard him say, but the journey starts now,” the FKF president noted.Put in his part said it is time for Kenya to take football to the same levrel with athletics which Kenya is known for. He urged football fans and the sports body to support him in his job.“I have written history with small countries like Gambia, Jordan and Burkina Faso. This another chance of doing big things in a big country.“I know Kenya is doing well in athletics and it’s time we take football to that level,” said Put.The former coach Stanley Okumbi was demoted and is currently Put's deputy.
