Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa is set to host a high powered delegation from the Confederation of African Football this week.

The meeting will come as the country awaits a report on preparedness for the 2018 African Nations Championships (CHAN).

Kenya got the rights to host the tournament two years ago.

However, Mwendwa has acknowlged,  that there’s progress in preparation for the tournament, though not as much as it should.

“It is a big inspection coming up and a huge moment for us as a country; we have done a lot of work on the facilities we have and there is good progress in Kinoru, Kasarani, Nyayo Stadium and Kip Keino Stadium in Eldoret are also coming up well.

“There is also the budgetary issue; we are in discussions with the government; some is through, some bit is still being worked on. This inspection is for CAF to tell us what we have done and what not so that we can finish everything in time.

“I am confident they will give a good report on the work that is going on and I am looking forward to them helping us get this done,” he said.

Mwendwa howeever backed the Kenyan team to pull through.

“I’d say we are 40% done in terms of preparedness and it is normal. In Equatorial Guinea it happened in 57 days, same to Gabon the other time, but we are putting in all the effort to see that we make it happen,” he added.
