The move by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to amend its constitution to extend the tenure of their president is illegal, a sports lawyer has said.
Edward Rombo said the impending proposal to extend FKF president's tenure to three maximum terms of three-years each is against sports laws.
"At the end of it all, I see that proposal falling flat," he said during an interview with the Nation Sport.
The federation recently announced its intention to adopt a new constitution that allows a seating president to seek a further two terms.
Nick Mwendwa, the current FKF president, has served two years of his four-year term.
Chief Executive Officer Robert Muthomi said the proposal will be adopted during the federation's annual general meeting (AGM) on November 18.
"If the AGM passes it, then the Sports Registrar won't accept the constitution. It is against the law. Or in any case, someone will run to court and challenge the changes," Rombo said.
