Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has been sued for defamation.
The Wiper Party MP has been sued for allegedly uttering offensive and defamatory words against ambassador Kiema Kilonzo.
In a civil defamation suit filed at the Kitui High court on Wednesday, Kilonzo alleges that Mulyungi referred to him as ‘gay’ during a rally attended by Kitui governor Charity Ngilu and Senator Enoch Wambua in Kitui town one month ago.
The ambassador through his lawyer Erick Mutua says that the alleged defamation by the Wiper MP has tainted his character.
Kilonzo claims Mulyungi said “there are some men who have become gay, one of them is Kiema Kilonzo’.
In the suit papers, the ambassador terms the remark as immoral and wants legal action taken against the MP.
Kilonzo also wants the Mwingi Central MP to issue an apology.
Last month, the Wiper MP was charged in a Kitui court for allegedly uttering offensive words against president-elect Uhuru Kenyatta.
He was released on Sh200,000 cash bail pending the hearing of the case.
