Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has asked Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to identify a suitable presidential running mate ahead of 2022.
Mulyungi argues that there is no time for the former Vice President to waste.
Speaking when he issued bursary funds at Kalisasi in Mwingi on Saturday , the Wiper MP said it is important if Kalonzo starts strategizing early.
He said the Wiper leader must be on the presidential ballot in 2022.
“Kalonzo should not waste time engaging in issues that will not help him ascend to power in 0222,” Mulyungi said.
Mulyungi said as Kamba leaders, they are determined to take the Wiper leader to State House in 2022.
“We will use every mechanism to make sure Kalonzo Musyoka succeeds President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022,” Mulyungi said.
The vocal Wiper legislator said time has come for Kalonzo to ascend to power.
He said Wiper does not depend on ODM leader Raila Odinga’s support.
“As it stands now, every indication shows that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Raila and Kalonzo could be trashed and it will be better if we start planning for another plan ,” Mulyungi added.
Mulyungi asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto Ruto to back Kalonzo’s bid.
He said the former Vice President has the qualities and experience to ascend to the top seat.
Kalonzo signed an MoU with Raila that is to see him fly the NASA presidential ticket in 2022.
However, political analysts argue that the MoU might be honored as Raila could contest in 2022.
Pressure has been mounting on Kalonzo to ditch NASA and declare support for Jubilee in efforts to keep his 2022 presidential bid a live.
