Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has said Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi will gain nothing from supporting Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Speaking during an interview with The Star, Awiti said Mwinyi has no future in Joho's camp, adding that the MP has already crossed to his side.
“He is already in. He knows that his interests are best taken care of in my camp. Our camp is very strong,” he said.
Awiti, who has declared to dethrone Joho in the upcoming general poll, is said to be reaping big from the fallout of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in Mombasa.
However, Mwinyi declined to comment on the matter, saying that they were united in the Cord coalition.
“We are people of the same party. We are not divided. We are not in splinter groups. We are in one line and that is Cord of course. ODM is in Cord,” said Mwinyi.
Awiti has affirmed that he is the best candidate to correct the mistakes made by the current leadership.
In the recent past, he has been accusing Joho and other county officials of doing little to change the lives of Mombasa residents.
The race to unseat Joho has attracted a number of candidates including Senator Hassan Omar, businessman Suleiman Shahbal and former Kisauni MP Ananiah Mwaboza.
