Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said his push for the presidency in 2022 is people driven.
According to Mutua, it's Kenyans who want him to be president based on his development track record.
Mutua said Kenyans have hope in him to bring the economic, social and political change the country seriously needs.
Speaking on Citizen TV's Sunday Live, the Maendeleo Chap Chap governor refuted claims that he is eyeing the presidency to fulfil his own political desires.
“My presidential bid is people driven and I am a 100 per cent sure of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022,” Mutua said.
Mutua said he is not scared of other candidates who have declared their interests in the presidential seat.
He said he has a vision and mission to liberate the country and guarantee equal share in terms of development.
Mutua at the same time refuted claims that he could deputize certain politicians in 2022.
“My aim is to be president and not deputy president as some people are speculating,” he added.
Mutua has since estimated that his 2022 presidential campaigns will cost about Sh15 to Sh18 billion.
He is among top politicians among them former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Deputy President William Ruto who have declared the interests in the top seat in 2022.
