He said he championed for the conervation of the Mau forest but was downplayed and accused of oppressing the people of Mau.

"Today we are in Mau where I received a lot of blames. They blamed me for oppressing the people here yet my intentions was to save Mau Forest for the current and future generations because i understand its importance," Raila said during the homecoming of Anglican Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit.

Raila also refuted claims that he was trying to gain political mileage from the Northern Collector and other water projects which he said were scandals in the making.

He on Saturday said he was concerned about the impact of the projects on the environment.

"We are not protesting so that people cannot get water. I know how much water is important to the people, but water should not be provided to the people in a way that affect others and the environment," he said.

Other leaders present at the ceremony were Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Narok governor Samuel Ole Tanui, Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi, Kanu secretary general Nick Salat among others.
