Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has said he will remain relevant despite his departure from the National Super Alliance (NASA).Omar is currently among Mombasa leaders campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Coastal County ahead of the October 26 repeat election. He recently bolted out of NASA over claims former Prime Minister Raila Odinga backs politicians in the county who are academically unsound to manage the affairs of Mombasa.“Who says leaving NASA is a death sentence,” Omar asked while speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Mombasa on Friday. The former Kenya Human Rights Commission commissioner resigned from the Wiper Party which sponsored him to the Senate during the March 4 general election and vowed he will not campaign for the opposition chief ahead of the August 8 polls. He cited personal reasons for his departure from NASA.“They branded me a mole. Now let me become a mole proper. I will campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta and I am confident he will win. I support President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.Omar maintains he defeated Governor Hassan Joho during the August gubernatorial but was rigged out.
