Machakos Governor, Dr Alfred Mutua has vowed to continue with his development agenda for the Ukambani community.
Speaking at Kenyatta Stadium where more than 2000 professionals were present, Dr Mutua accused his opponents of lack of priority in their leadership."We don't want Ukambani to be a land relying on food aid and suffering from water shortage forever. The journey from Egypt to the promised land is now unstoppable," said the governor.
He accused those who have been criticising his mission to make the lives of Machakos residents better of selfishness.
"Let them continue throwing insults and abuse at me. I shall not stop doing the work of God. The delegates drawn from Kitui, Makueni and Machakos counties promised to rally behind leaders who are development-oriented and kick out the joy-riders who have taken the Kamba people for granted.
The CEO, Film Classification Board, Ezekiel Mutua who read the resolutions 'Machakos Accord' said that processes are underway to establish Ukambani Bank where people from the three counties can access financial help and loans at affordable rates.
"We want leaders who put the interests of the interests of the citizens first and not selfish ones. We want to be on the right side if history that supports development," he said.
He said they had received calls to abscond the meeting from a prominent politician which they ignored in a bid to support Dr Mutua's development agenda.
Others who attended the function include MPs Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), John Munuve (Mwingi North), Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Muthusi Kitonga (Mutito) Kalembe Ndile (Kibwezi) and Mutinda Mutiso (Kilome).
