Speaking at the ongoing vetting process at Kunste Hotel in Nakuru, Sally Tarus told the Leonard Musengi panel that her husband, now a corporal in the police service, left her with four children and refused to take responsibility.

She however told the panel that she has since engaged in farming and renting of houses to meet the end needs of the children with one studying at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University.

“My husband left me after a series of transfers in various places and married someone else. He never supports our four children but my father told me not to pursue him,” Tarus told the panel.

“I have never thought of being remarried. I am comfortable bringing up our children with the money I earn from the service, renting houses and chairs for events and farming,” Tarus added remorsefully.

Corporal Samson Kipkirui, traffic policeman based at Kitale also recounted how he lost his wife, Carolyne Ayebei due to his commitments.

Kipkirui told the panel how now a constable based at Athi River would leave him behind and appear days later after which he decided to call the marriage quits and obtained a court affidavit.

The vetting exercise is aimed at identifying the officers living beyond their means after the National Police Service have been implicated with bribery and maliciously receiving money from the public.
