[Garissa Governor Nathif Jama. He is sure of retaining his seat in the August polls.] (facebook.com/ Nathif Jama)Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has told his opponents to prepare for defeat after the August general election.
Jama is facing an anthill re-election task from opponents who accuse him of mismanaging county resources for personal gain.
“Garissa residents have reaffirmed their commitment to support our re-election for they have already tried and tested our leadership with a proven track record of working and delivering towards our promises,” he said as he campaigned in Dadaab and Fafi sub counties on Tuesday.
The county chief who is defending his seat on a Wiper Party ticket is facing off against former diplomat Ali Korane.
Jama has been under pressure to explain the source of the Sh5.3 billion that was allegedly wired into his personal bank account from Central Bank.
Opponents including Korane have been riding on the allegations to de-campaign Jama, a key opposition ally in North Eastern region.
