Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi. Billionaire businessman Jimmy Wanjigi claims his life is in danger.
Mr Wanjigi has written to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, complaining about being trailed by unknown people day and night. The businessman now wants police to provide him with security at his own cost.
In a letter, the billionaire claims on September 8, a senior State House official personally visited him at home to warn him of a real and imminent threat to his life. He reported the matter to Gigiri police station on September 10, under OB number 14/10/9/2.
"This is therefore to bring to the attention of your good office the above subject matter for your urgent intervention and further necessary action by way of providing our client with adequate police security at his cost before any harm is visited on him," Wanjigi said in a letter through his lawyer Elizabeth Karoki.
The businessman has in the past been seen in public in close association with National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders. This he believes, is part of the reason why someone is after his life.
In a letter, Wanjigi said the Constitution guaranteed him the right to make political choices, which include the right to campaign for political party or cause, and that these rights must be protected. Police in Kigiri said they were investigating the matter.
"We are aware and have embarked on the probe into the report made. We have the IG to deal about the demands on officers to provide him with security," Said senior officer who asked not to be named.
