Central Organisation of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli has claimed his life is in danger after unknown people sent him life-threatening messages.
Atwoli who addressed the media in Kisumu on Saturday said the threats may be linked to his Tuesday proposal that the 2010 Constitution be amended to create more positions in government so that Kenya can have an all-inclusive government.
"We must return to the Bomas Draft Constitution. Even if you're elected president and people are dying, how will that benefit you?" the outspoken COTU boss asked.
"If Uhuru's term ends why shouldn't he occupy one of the [new positions]? There is nothing wrong. But it will come to pass I can assure you. We must have an all-inclusive government and I said this for purposes of equity. You can agree with me, but if you don't agree with me it doesn't mean you should plan to eliminate me. It is a debate. This is the best time for us to look into our laws," he added.
Atwoli, when he addressed Kenyans during celebrations to mark Labour Day at Nairobi's Uhuru Park, said having an all-inclusive government will end perennial fights that Kenyans have always witnessed when some leaders lose in elections.
There are plans to amend the 2010 Constitution to create more senior positions in government.
