Last week I managed to hitch a ride in one of those 27 Yutong buses that the government has deployed to ease the transport crisis in Nairobi.
There is no doubt that they are the very definition of class.
I am still reeling from the experience.
Popping in is like stepping into unbridled awesomeness.
You are met with the impossibly cool faces of NYS youths robbed in their full green regalia which gives you a sense of security.
Unlike the dirty PSVs that we are used to in our daily commutes, the inside of the NYS buses is squeaky clean.
The seats are upholstered in pure leather, not the torn dirty sacks that KBS and others use as upholstery.
The doors are automated, a button on the dashboard is pressed and the doors open or close depending on the need.
While inside, the only thing you hear is the hum of the engine, not the annoying high-pitched sounds that we have to endure every time we travel.
There's that steep hill just as you are about to reach Lavington.
That machine climbs the hill as if it's just rolling on a flat surface without breaking a sweat.
Talk about power.
And, my Goodness! I just parted with 20 Bob for that experience in paradise.
Traveling now ceases to be an ordeal, it is now an experience to look forward to.
