Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has claimed that his opponent in the August 8 general election has conceded defeat.
Francis Mureithi who vied for the Embakasi East Parliamentary seat on a Jubilee party ticket, had petitioned Owino's win.
However, after a vote re-count ordered by the high court in Nairobi, the final vote tally which is yet to be announced officially by the court on Friday, shows that the vocal ODM MP beat Mureithi.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Owino claimed that Mureithi had called him and accepted defeat ahead of the Friday's court ruling.
Owino added that it was now time for him to serve his constituents.
"Mr Francis Mureithi who petitioned my victory as the current Embakasi East MP at the high court has just called to concede defeat ahead of the court ruling scheduled for Friday this week. It's time to serve my people," posted the ODM legislator.
