Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna has revealed that his former running mate, James Gathungu, deserted him at the last minute.
Gathungu was a student leader at Laikipia University.
The independent candidate last week surprised many when he appeared before the IEBC officers for clearance with a different running mate.
Miguna turned up with Karen Wagenye when he presented his nomination papers for the governor’s seat.
“That man disappeared for two weeks and only turned up on the day I was presenting my nomination papers,” Miguna said on NTV, Tuesday morning.

He added: “And then, he also didn’t meet the threshold for this job. His academic qualifications were not in order. That said, I am one of the very few candidates who has entrusted a youthful woman to do this job.”
Miguna will face Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero (ODM) and Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko (Jubilee Party) and 2013 presidential candidate, Peter Kenneth (independent).
